Never be to busy that you can’t lend a helping hand. The holiday season always reminds us of this. Everyone is always busy donating toys to children and turkey dinners to families in need, which is great, but don’t forget about our elderly. My grandmother is currently in a Alzheimer’s care home, the people there may not have their memories left, but they do have feelings. They just want someone to sit with them. If you’ve never been to a home before, it’s an eye opener. May I never lose my wits about me and may God bless all those who have. So if you need a mission, go ask an Alzheimer’s care home or any type of elder care home, “how can I be of service” a little time to sit with someone, hold their hand, sing a song or tell a story too…Oh, they wont remember you visited but you will. And I do believe that for a little while… you’ll bring joy to their little world. Spread Joy, love, and compassion, that’s the true Christmas spirit.
I love this!!! I still remember all the times I went to visit my great-grandmother in the home. I cherish those memories and she remembered them until she died in 1991. Take the time to spend a few moments with the elderly! 🙂
agree…
“If you can do something to help, then it’s your moral obligation to do so”… Uncle Ben, from the Spiderman Movie. This line always stuck with me. It’s so little effort on our part to make such a big difference to another human being.
yep, I agree…and a kind word and a smile also go a longgggg way 🙂
