Meditation, Free 21 day’s worth!

I think this is the 6th year that the Chopra Center has offered their FREE 21 day meditation challenge. Give it a try! If you say, “I can’t sit for that amount of time ( 10-15 minutes) and be still and meditate”. Then try grabbing a cup of tea, sit and just listen… the voices, the music, and the lessons are just what this world needs. Give it a try, have O expectations and just BE.

Hugs and Love for a wonderful Day

I thought it was time to post; it’s been over a month. So where have I been? I’ve been in training to become a certified yoga teacher. Spending most of my free time working on my studies, AND I LOVE IT!

I can’t quite explain what yoga does for me; it started 5 years ago as I worked one-on-one with a yoga teacher who has since become my treasured friend. I’ll never forget my first downward facing dog, thinking, “You’ve got to be kidding, this is a resting pose”…. But alas, I love it! Yoga taught me to become friends with my body again, this unique body that houses my divine light, my connection to God. Yoga teaches me to take care of my house, not only on the mat but off the mat by what foods I eat, what words I speak, in every aspect of my life, Yoga has touched some core of it and continues to do so as I continue to grow and learn. The learning is endless so the growing is as well.

You rush into a yoga class, lay your mat down onto the floor and you sit, get quite and breathe…………………………………. Your seat roots to the ground, your spine grows tall, and you expand your chest and close your eyes. The crown of your head reaches up to the heavens and you breathe………….you become centered…………………your mind quiets and you become fully present in the NOW… … We are born with this, it is our birth right, but our busy lives and our monkey brain try and keep us in the ego world, the me world, the I world….. Yoga brings us back to the Devine world, the Godly world, the peaceful world. Yoga brings us back to our truest self, which is pure divine light.

I urge everyone to find their yogi within, it’s not about truing your body into a pretzel, and it’s not about the perfect pose, it’s about being fully present, breathing and connecting to the stillness that is already inside you…….be still, get quite and just be……..the rest will come …..

Peace in =’s Peace out!

New Moon and New Year

Today and Tonight, what a magical event, not only is it the start of a New Year and the passing of an old year, we are also in a New Moon phase. When in a New Moon phase (no moon to be seen) the Sun and Moon are in perfect alignment. This coinciding with the start of a New Year creates a tremendous magical time. It’s the perfect time to manifest your deepest desires. Set your intentions and give them up to the power of the universe. In Tibetan beliefs, the earth breathes in-and-out in connection to the moon, the New Moon phase is a time to breathe-in deeply and slowly moving into a calm mind-set. When we are calm and using our breath we become a witness to our emotions and can watch our emotions come and go without becoming attached to them. This calmness helps you see your life, let go of what no longer serves you and see the possibilities of your future. What do you really want out of life? What makes your heart sing and your soul dance? You are never too old or lacking to begin a new phase in your life.

Go outside tonight, sit and be with the moon, breathe in-and-out in a slow rhythm and ask yourself, what is my true purpose in life? Why am I here on Earth? What are my spiritual intentions? Ask yourself these questions, breathe them in-and-out and let go of analyzing the answers that come. If you are already in tune with your true purpose, then ask the Universe, how can I deepen my path, how can I serve more and how can I give more.

When you are living your soul’s purpose in life, you feel energized, joyous, and happy; you walk on could 10 and feel God’s love vibrating in your body. You connect with the Universe and vibrate with the Earth. You are spreading peace and you are healing our world. You are an anchor of light and love and are a spiritual healer and you do this by spreading your positive vibrational energy out to other people, the earth and the Universe.

Living our true purpose in life can take years and years to find, it often comes after spending half of our life time living our responsibilities and learning life lessons. When age comes, we find that our alignment shifts and we discover that what was once important, no longer is. If you are lucky, you can find your path early in life, but the important part is to find it. Every day that you can live your life in alignment with your true purpose is a life walking hand in hand with God.

While sitting outside tonight, remember to end your communion with the Moon, Universe, and God with thankfulness and gratefulness. Be thankful for all the lessons in your life, they were all there to teach you something. Be thankful for all the wonderful positive blessings that are on its way to you in this 2014 magical year. Be thankful and grateful every day. Every day is a gift.

Peace in =’s Peace out

Learning to Meditate

I find that so many people are afraid of the word, Meditation. “I can’t quiet my mind; I can’t sit with my legs crossed for hours on end. I just can’t do it, it’s not for me” I hear this over and over when I talk about meditation. I find that people are either willing to do it, or they’re not. It saddens me because there are tremendous benefits from meditation.
Yes, our brain is the biggest supper computer there is, we have thoughts and thoughts, visions, and visions over 60,000.00 a day. WOW…. Talk about megabytes. Meditation is taking a pause, a break from all the data input and output of the brain. To sit and simply breathe is the first step in meditation. You don’t need to go out and buy anything special. You don’t need any degree or special training to begin.
So what do you gain by spending time in meditation? You gain calm, peace of mind, a new since of awareness, you lower your stress level, calm your nerves, and you rejuvenate your body and your mind, yes…it’s like defragmenting your supper computer of all the junk it’s stored. You are spending time on your breathe and reconnecting it to your body, which in turn reconnects it to your spirit, which in turn reconnects you to the Universal being. LOVE…..you are giving your entire body love.
Simply start and give yourself no time limit, Find a place to sit, in a chair, against a wall, legs crossed, or touching the ground, whatever is most comfortable. If you want music, just make sure it has no words. You don’t want the choir in your brain to be activated and start singing or some distant love song to pop up a hidden romance. I do find it funny what type of thoughts tend to show up when I sit in meditation…..the key is to simply breathe and then sweep that thought away with the breath.
Sit, have your palms facing up and open to connect with the universe or facing down upon your thighs to connect deeper within yourself. Shoulders are always back, head of your shoulders slightly down, and your heart is always open. Breathe in slowly via the nose a few times, while releasing the breath via the nose. Keeping your eyes and mouth closed and you’re tongue resting down. Make the sound of the ocean as you breathe in-and-out, focus on this sound. And simply breathe, taking a deep breathe in, pausing, and exhale, pausing. Feel the rise and fall of your body, bringing all your attention and intentions on the breath, our life giving force our Prana. And as you sink into your breath and your body without realizing it your breathing will become quite. When thoughts come rushing in at you, just breathe them away. If you cry because something has been released, then let it go…… sometimes meditation brings up issues we have not been willing to let go of.
Don’t grade yourself, this is not a test, simply just sit, breathe, and be…. for however long you can be….
Meditation has helped me in my stress levels; it has taught me the art of patience’s, calmness, love, compassion.

My favorite meditation guide is DavidJi and I would recommend his book on “the secrets of meditation” to everyone who has ever been interested in learning to meditate. It’s an easy read that covers just about every form of meditation possible, and it’s written in an easy light format. A must Read. http://www.davidji.com/

Just like trying anything new, it takes practice, please find time in your day to carve out a space for meditation. When you rise in the morning, during your lunch break, when you arrive home from work, or before you go to bed, anything worth doing is worth doing.

Happy meditating and remember Peace in =’s Peace out

Stop the Addiction

ink and paper

I sit in my car down at the plaza and just watch, watch people scurrying back- in-forth with their many bags in toe, shopping, buying, more and more stuff. The American Shopper, how much stuff do we really need? I would be lying if I said that that was never me, but it was me, not long ago, I was just like them, scurrying around in the rat race, buying yet another trinket to sit on a shelf to collect dust. It’s only been in the last year or so as I have depended my yoga and meditation practice that I have come to loath shopping, loath stuff, and loath the American, “more” life style. How much do we actually need to live? We need food, clothing, and shelter. When I think about people all around the world that only worry about their next meal, digging thought the city’s trash to find clothing, or sifting water out of a drinking hole to try and get a cup of drinkable water, it makes me sad. I feel sad that so many people have so much when others have so little. But even in the West, we have our poverty, our starving, and our homeless. Even here in the land of plenty, we have people in need. BUT, it’s never too late to wake up and break the addiction of shop, buy, spend, and more… YOU can use that energy to help more, give more, and shop less. Take a look around your home, what do you really need? It’s time to clean house, donate, give, and live the life style of “less is more”…. Less “stuff” equals less clutter in the home and the mind.
Next time you go into town, just sit in your car and watch, observe, listen and ask yourself, how much do we really need? Don’t become a shopping zombie, stop the addiction of shop, buy, spend, and more. And as you deepen your yoga, meditation, and spiritual path, you’ll find yourself needing less and less “stuff” …. And having more and more peace.

Grow Love

We are nothing if we do not have love. We are nothing if we do not give love. We are nothing if we can not be love. And we are nothing if we do not realize that ALL of life is love. Remember, all of creation was made from love, from the simplest weed, to the smallest bug, to the largest tree, to you and me. We were all created from love. So if you question, why am I here, what is my purpose, what am I supposed to do…………….the correct answer is simply to Love, be, give, and share Love. We were all planted with the same seed, Love. Water it, care for it, share it.
